Hello, class! It sure has been chilly lately! And that means it’s a great time to warm up by working out a sweat! So pump up the jams, put on your best sweats (optional!), and lets get busy! Training our Chocobos!

Lopp at the chocobo stable!

If you have joined up with a Grand Company, you are eligible to register a company Chocobo! And once you have, you can feed it Gysahl Greens to have it follow you around and peck your enemies! To death, even! Today’s lesson is NOT about setting this up, so if you have questions, ask me after class!

When training your Chocobo, it is important to note that you do not NEED to bring it along with you into war. You totally can, and it is a huge help, but you can also train it in the stables. Krakka Root, Curiel Root, Sylkis Bud, Pahsana Fruit, Tantalplant, and Mimett Gourd are all helpful feeds in their own right, so if you plan to go this route, stock up a bit!

Once you hit the experience cap, though, you’ll need to have your Chocobo fight something to finish the process and level up! Do not forget to use its skill points! Or pet them! Petting them is fun, too.

Petting the chocobo

Once you hit level 10, that is it! Your Chocobo is as strong as it ever will be. OR IS IT?!

No, it is not. You really should have guessed that when I yelled “OR IS IT?!” I mean, that is like the most obvious thing. Yeah, they can get to like level 20 or something, it’s insane. Insanely fly, that is! Do you kids still say that? “Fly?”

Chocobos fly. And they are VERY fly.

Okay, well enough being the flyest teacher in school, we should get on with the lesson.

Once your Chocobo gets to the level 10 cap, you will need to stable it to push it past its limits, no grinding beyond this one! You will also need to force-feed it whole onions. Thavnairian Onions, to be specific. You can feed these to lower-level Chocobos, but it is not as much fun!

Onions!

You can get the onions from gardening, or, if you are busy grading term papers every freaking night this week… as a non-specific example… you can buy them from the Market Board! Just be careful, as sometimes people sell them in bulk, and you can accidentally spend way too much.

The onion market

Once you have your onion, head back to the stable and give it to your Chocobo! They love onions, mostly because of the layers, and will eat them without question.

But make sure you feed the onion when their rank is orange with 0 experience! Otherwise the onion might be wasted!

As a side note, you can also get an achievement for training other people’s Chocobos, so I gave Lethe a Krakka Root while I was here! You need to do that 30 times for the achievement, so stock up for that one.

Stable options

Now that I have given Stuart an onion, we are ready to do FATES for hours and hours and hours and hours and oh gosh the term papers… I really gotta get back to those. After happy hour. I need my. Tea. For teachers. That is why it is called tea. It helps me teach.

Okay, see you next class!

Class dismissed!
