Eorzea, I have a hoarding problem!

Here’s a look at my inventory over the weekend.

My Inventory

It’s a mess. You may even be wondering why I have almost 2,000 coconuts.

Inventory can be a tough thing to manage here in Eorzea. You only have three or four spots to really store things - your pockets, your chocobo saddblebag, your retainers, and your Free Company chest, if you’re in one. That might sound like a lot when you’re first starting out. But it’s not. Not at all!

There’s just so much stuff that accumulates over time. Glamours, crafting materials, gearsets. Mogstore items, random teas and biscuits of a sentimental nature. Other things.

Take for example my handful of belts from back before they all disappeared from Eorzea without explanation. That was a weird time, and these belts must have some historical significance, but does that mean I really should hold on to them forever? The answer is yes, so let’s just move on!

Here are some tips for sorting through your inventory and cleaning things out:

Sell what you’re not using RIGHT NOW.

With most items, especially crafting materials, prices tend to remain fairly stable, at least for commonly crafted goods. So sell what you’re not using at the moment, and if you change your mind, you can just gather or buy more. You’re not missing out by clearing it away!

Unused glamours.

Glamour Dresser at the Adders’ Nest barracks

I have so many items in my glamour dresser, and even stuffed away in my retainers, that I’m just not going to wear. Like some hats. Luckily, we’ve recently been allowed to store certain items from the mogstore in our armoire, which has helped. But it’s also an okay idea to go through your dresser and really consider what you might actually wear. And toss them out!

Calamity Salvager

Calamity Salvager is your friend! Related to the above, there are very few items that are truly gone forever if you toss them. I wouldn’t toss mogstore stuff, because I don’t think you can get those back, and like I said you can store them in your armoire now. But for other items, like from job quests or special rewards or achievement items, or even event items that you’ve unlocked in the past, you can always return to your local Calamity Salvager and re-buy them! Just something to keep in mind! If you’re from Gridania, you can even re-buy that old Monoa Mask that you might have tossed 800 years ago (which is kinda rude, but we won’t judge)!

Salvagers can be found in every city-state, but the one in Old Gridania hangs out right by the aetheryte!

Dyes!

An FC chest full of Dyes

We originally formed our Free Company to have a chest exclusively to store dyes in. I’m not joking! Now, we still keep some special dyes, but mostly just store the pigments used to craft basic ones. It’s an extra step, but it saves space!

Free Company Chests & Friends!

Hoarding doesn’t have to be a solo activity! If you start a Free Company and get some friends wrapped up in your inventory management, you can have them hold onto things for you! Lopp, for example, held onto all of our trivia items for our openings at Nophica’s Spring!

The problem with inventory is that it always fills up. It’s a constant battle, especially if you’re a crafter. But all you have to do is take that first step!

Good luck, Eorzea!
