Roropo Dodopo was a sly Lalafell with a penchant for quick gil and less-than-honest means of making it. His most infamous scheme involved selling counterfeit soulstones, enchanted gems that are essential for any adventurer who seeks to enter the dangerous realm of Eorzea’s dungeons. These fakes appeared nearly identical to the real thing, with the same color and texture, but they were anything but genuine. They were just rocks he found near the rivers of Central Thanalan.

At first, the adventurers who purchased Roropo’s Discount Soulstones, as they were advertised, were thrilled. They didn’t suspect a thing, and entered dungeons with the confidence that their shiny new stones would grant them the heroic abilities they were so promised.

But as they stepped into those dungeons, their fake soulstones began to shatter, leaving them powerless against the fierce enemies they would encounter, and embarrassed in the face of their fellow comrades. The adventurers were outraged, realizing too late that they had been cheated.

As word spread throughout Ul’dah of Roropo’s misdeeds, adventurers began to demand refunds and justice for their ruined quests. The Adventurers’ Guild, forced to investigate, subsequently uncovered the truth about the counterfeit soulstones. Roropo was run out of the city-state and banned from doing business ever again.

No one knows where Roropo is now, but his name is still spoken in hushed whispers throughout Eorzea, as a warning to newcomers to the adventurering life: Be careful with whom you do business. The Adventurers’ Guild has since implemented stricter regulations on soulstone acquisition, ensuring that no one else will fall prey to such fraudulent activities.
