Not long ago in the Black Shroud, there lived a humble chocobo carriage driver who was renowned for his kindness and generosity. He spent his days offering his services to travelers who needed a lift through the forest’s beautiful, yet often treacherous, terrain. It was said that he had never turned anyone away, no matter how dire the conditions were.

One stormy night, as lightning cracked in the South Shroud, the driver received a strange request from a woman at Quarrymill. Despite the torrential rain, she wore a brillaint white dress, and her skin had an ethereal glow. She asked the driver if he would take her to Gridania, where she needed to meet her friends. The driver agreed, though he was surprised by her unusual appearance. As they journeyed through the winding paths of the Black Shroud, the rain began to pour down even harder, making it difficult to see more than a few feet in front of the chocobo.

As they crested a hill and the faint lights of Gridania came into view, the driver noticed suddenly that the woman had disappeared from her seat, like she had never been there at all. Confused and frightened, he scanned the surrounding woods, but there was no sign of the mysterious woman. It was as if she had vanished into thin air.

The driver decided to continue on to Gridania, hoping that he would find answers there. As he made his way through the city-state, he asked questions of the locals, but no one seemed to know who the woman in the white dress was. Her friends were nowhere to be found; it was as if she had never existed at all.

The driver spent the rest of his life searching for answers to the mystery of the woman in the white dress. Many believed that she was a ghostly figure who had been lost in the Black Shroud, doomed to repeat her trip to Gridania over and over again. Others suspected that she was a being from another world.

No one would ever learn the truth. If you ever see the woman in the white dress at Quarrymill, feel free to give her a ride. But do not be surprised if she’s gone before your trip is over.
